We are a family with 3 children and spent our Easter holidays in this beautiful holiday home. The house is right on the beach, which we had all to ourselves. The house is perfectly equipped, with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. It is one of the best holiday homes we have rented so far. Barbara, the house owner is a very helpful and friendly person, who has always helped us with any questions immediately. Thank you Barbara! We hope that we can spend our holidays in Desert Rose again.`
We stayed one week in the property and everybody enjoyed it ! Both the owner and the housekeeper are very accomodating and responsive. The house is very well equipped and offers a lot of 'accessory' amenities like beach chairs, beach toys, snorkeling gear... The gas BBQ was great also to grill fish, and the outside property is amazing. It seems you would like to stay everywhere at the same time (1 welcoming hammock under a patio - a shaded deck at the back of the round house). A charming small path reaches the beach which is very appropriate for kids because the water is not too deep at that point. The place is so quiet ! I would definitely recommend it ! We will surely be back !
The photos do not show as beautiful if this place! The house, the property and the owners are great! It's the house that a lot of people would like to have on a seaside like that.
We enjoyed our stay at Desert Roses. The location is wonderful - close to Governors Harbor and restaurants but we felt that we were on a secluded beach. The beach goes forever and is spectacular. The home is comfortable and well maintained. The three decks gave us geat views of the ocean and the gardens.
The owners and caretaker were extremely helpful and concerned that we had an enjoyable time. We will return to Desert Roses on our next trip to Eleuthera.
We had a wonderful week enjoying the roaring surf, secluded beach and gorgeous views... from many, many decks. What a treat to be able to walk an entire beach alone. The house itself is great too. Cozy, comfortable and spectacular views from the many windows. Perfect hideaway for two.
The caretaker and the taxi driver were charming and very helpful.
We will be going back to Desert Roses!
What an idyllic location this is! Paradise on earth! The property was exactly as represented and extremely comfortable although our son preferred to sleep on the lounge rather than on the sofa bed in the second bedroom as it was a bit hard.
Life was very leisurely and the occasional dinner out very much a highlight. We particularly liked The Beach House and the Cocodimama.
A visit to Elouthera can be improved by a better and more reliable flight schedule. Our luggage did not arrive for 26 hours and several people were grounded for that amount of time the day beefore we left due to a fault in the engine.
Fortunately we arrived and departed on time and the taxi met us as planned. The driver and the agent were very friendly and helpful. Altogether an excellent holiday!
Yes, it really is a beautiful as the pictures. Desert Rose has an great vantage point to see the water any time of the day or night and the breeze drifts perfectly through the house (but the is a/c is available should you need it). What you don't see is how well stocked the house is. Kitchen has every type of utensil, plate, glassware and the cooker is excellent. There's also a B-B-Q and multiple outside locations to dine. There is a huge selection of DVD's for adults and kids. Ample towels and bedding and a washer/dryer. Use of a cell phone (just add phone card) and jeep.
The property is spotlessly clean, well maintained interior and beautiful landscaped garden with hummingbirds, butterflies and flowers.
The customer service was excellent, Barbara thank you for your prompt attention to our questions. Del - the local caretaker, greeted us and checked in on us a couple of times during our stay.
Our only lack of commentary is we were so happy at Desert Rose that we didn't really venture out for dinner (but that's to be expected with 2.5 year old)!
Barbara, we can't wait to return.
Wonderful views, perfect breezes, never saw another person on the beach the entire week! House was adequate and came with all the amenities needed for a restful vacation away from it all. Not the Ritz, but wasn't expecting it. House needs a little TLC to make it perfect, but overall a wonderful week on undoubtedly the best beach on the island. Definitely need to go to the Banks Deli for fresh baguettes, and the Beach House rest. For dinner. Recommend Rainbow Bay for snorkeling if the water in front of the Desert Rose is a little choppy with the Atlantic breezes. Otherwise, snorkeling right out front is perfect! All in all, a week to remember for a long time to come!
My husband and I just got back last night from a week at Desert Roses and we feel like we had a second honeymoon. It is SOOOO peaceful there, especially with the beautiful Atlantic in our front yard. The romantic sunsets and sunrises every morning can't be matched!
Eleuthera is the perfect place to unplug from the world and find true peacefulness. The island is pretty much crime-free and that makes a mind rest easy. The house is has high ceilings and give the feeling of spaciousness and there are multlple seating areas outside, as well.
The owners are very good at communicating and the caretaker is extremely helpful (and great at opening up coconuts from the tree..thank you!
The island has just enough fun things to do and explore that it would take about 10 days to check out. Sunshine, beach, fresh coconuts, pineapples, and quiet...now that's what we call a true vacation...Highly recommend!!
We arrived on a breezy saturday in Dec, 2011. When we first pulled up to the house our jaws dropped, the beauty and seclusion of the house is amazing. The grounds around were groomed well and completely tropical. Right away we felt at home and made quick use of the multitude of huts and hammoks and the amazing beach. All of the ammenities included with the house made us feel at home. Watching the sun rise every morning having a coffee on the front deck has to be experienced. We stayed for 2 weeks and never felt cramped, or uncomfortable. There is so much to see and do on the island, the Fish Fry in Governors is awesome and only 15 minutes away, the local shops are aways inviting, you will have no problem keeping yourself entertained whether you stay a week or 2. Every time we come back to Eleuthera we will saty here!!
I did a lot of research on where to spend our first trip to the Bahamas. I had never even heard of Eleuthera until I began this search. It doesn't always work out, but this time I hit the Jackpot. Our stay was better than we had hoped for, and a lot of that had to do with the property, the views and dealing with the Owners. The pictures don't do the views justice. Each day the changing tides/winds/weather provided a new ocean and beach view. We walked the beach nearly every day, and each day it was different. Most days we alone on the beach. The combinations of tuquoise/blue/green were amazing. In addition to enjoying the views, we were also able to snorkel, Scuba and Fish. Eleuthera is 'not for everybody' but it certainly was for us. You can't ignore some of the remnants of Irene, but we took that as a reminder of the power lying behind the beatuiful views and felt blessed to enjoy it. We look forward to a return trip.
Desert Rose is located on a stunningly beautiful beach and most of the time we had it all to ourselves. The house is very comfortable. It is well maintained and clean with all modern facilities. Location is private, views incredible and you can fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the sea.
A car is essential. We used the car provided by Desert Rose and I would recommend that because it was hassle free and the car was good.
The owners were very helpful and flexible, especially when we were surprised to find out that I was pregnant before the holiday. The care taker was great. If needed he was there in no time, otherwise we were left in a complete privacy which was just perfect.
Eleuthera is a fantastic beautiful unspoilt island. You won't find lively night life nor lots of umbrellas and noisy bars on the beaches. We hope it will stay this way. We truly enjoyed our long walks and were stunned by the beauty every day. We were there 3 weeks and it was disappointing when we had to leave. Hopefully we can make it back there soon.
The Desert Rose is a gem. We arrived on Feb 21st to find the house in order and clean. We never saw any bugs, and the beach views were outstanding. Having the other property occupied was not an issue,. We only saw them on the beach and they were the only people we saw on the beach. Complete privacy and gorgeous views, worth every penny. Thje only problem was the bad, i need a soft bed and this was a bit too hard for me.
My wife and I spent a week at Desert Rose cottage and it was awesome! This was our second vacation in Eleuthera and we are very pleased with this property. We are very likely to stay there again and may even allow other family members to join us next time - but we'll see ;-).
The cottage is octagon shaped with exposed wood in the ceilings and wood paneled walls through out. There is a nice skylight in the center of the cottage, but the interior walls are cleverly laid out so that the skylight does not shine into either bedroom. There is a separate laundry room with an outside entrance off of the back deck. The appliances are all nice, the cottage is well equipped, and the bed is new and comfortable. The air conditioning works well, or you can open the windows and enjoy the sea breeze.
The cottage has a deck most of the way around it, and a covered area with a gas grill and picnic table in the back. The chairs on the deck are very nice, and there was lots extra things to make the stay more comfortable - ice chests, sea kayak, bicycles, boogie board, etc. There are about 15 steps - a little steep, but sturdy and safe - down to the large lanai on the beach. The lanai is large enough for several chairs if you want to sit on the beach but in the shade. I found this to be a great napping spot! The beach is gorgeous and we saw only six other people on this beach all week.
There was another couple staying at Monticello - the house on the same property - but it was not a problem at all. Each house has its own beach access and its own lanai. The way the grounds are landscaped, you can barely even see the house from the cottage.
We rented a vehicle from the owner of the cottage and it was much better than the typical rental vehicle on Eleuthera. It was a late model Nissan Pathfinder that was well maintained. You want to have a vehicle on Eleuthera even though you don't need to leave the cottage for much.
The property manager was a delight to work with. He welcomed us with a smile, showed us around the cottage, showed us how everything worked, and respected our privacy all week. He is a joy to talk with if you want to talk, but will not push himself on you if you want to be left alone. He lives a short distance from the property if a need arises.
We had a wonderful vacation at Desert Rose and hope to return!
We had the pleasure of spending five nights at Desert Rose. The pink sand beach is stunning!! There was a large palapa on the beach that was the perfect place to spend your day enjoying your very own beach. We saw a total of six people on the beach during our stay. It was wonderful to have the beach all to ourselves.
The home was very well maintained and extremely clean. The living room furniture has been updated and was very nice and comfortable. The kitchen provided everything we needed in order to have a quick breakfast and lunch each day.
The caretaker took care of the taxi arrangements to and from the airport. The taxi driver was very prompt and a joy to talk to. The caretaker was also very nice, but not intrusive.
The owner, Barbara, was a joy to work with. She always responded to my questions quickly throughout the entire process. Upon our return, she followed up to make sure our stay was as expected.
If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation - I highly recommend Desert Rose!
I even hesitate to write a review...so much do we love Desert Rose that we want to keep it a secret for ourselves! This was our third trip, and if you're looking for a vacation where you can really come as close as possible to "living off the grid"...this is it. Unbelievably beautiful and secluded beach (we saw only three people on the beach the ten days we were there.) Accommodations are very comfortable, and plenty of privacy. The owner is a real pleasure to work with, and will make sure your stay is enjoyable. The property is centrally located on the island, easy to reach other beaches. The local caretaker for the owner is very helpful on a variety of fronts.
The Monticello Desert Rose is an amazing place to rent, my boyfriend and I recently spent a week there after a hectic few days in New York & Orlando. The property is exactly as shown in the photos and yes it really is that close to the beach! No long drives or fighting to get a sun lounger, the beach will be yours and yours only - we did not see a soul during our stay.
Although a bit of a isolated property you can easily pop down to the harbour for groceries using the SUV. We found that as October is down season there was not many restaurants open so we stocked up on food for the week and made our own meals in the Monticello's well equipped kitchen.
The property is well maintained with everything you would need for your stay, we had a very relaxing time with no problems, if you do need any help with anything David (groundskeeper) is more than willing to help - he kindly ferried us to and from the airport.
All in all a great place to stay!
We had a great week at Desert Rose. We have been going to Eleuthera for so many years we consider it our 2nd home and we've stayed at a lot of different cottages & beaches. Desert Rose was a very nice, comfortable cottage. It was equipped with all necessary dishes & pots and pans (very nice pots & pans). My husbands only complaint was the size of the bed....his feet would hang off the end. My only complaint would be that you can not get the major stations...ABC, NBC, CBS on the sattelite. Even in paradise we still love TV.
Loved the layout of the cottage. Put the windows up and let the breeze begin.
It's just south of Tippy's and close to the grocery store.
It was our first time on Eleuthera and also our first time at Desert Rose and it was fantastic. The beautiful view to the beach, the deep blue sea and the nice garden around the house was absolutely amazing. The house is perfect located, clean, has a great kitchen and a good entertainment system. In the whole area we had wireless internet. We rented also a SUV from the owner to explore the island and without this SUV it wouldn´t be possible:)The Owner and the employees there are very friendly and helpful. We would recommend everybody this property and if we have time, then we would defenitely come back.
My wife and I have been all over the Bahamas and this is the best place we have been. Everything you want from the carribean is right here. From the cottage, to the decks, to the pink sand beach, to the coral reefs just a short swim from shore. Need to put this on your "to do" vacation list.
I had the pleasure of being able to stay at Desert Rose for 4 weeks, It was my first time on Eleuthera. the house is perfectly situated right in the middle of the island close to everything yet far enough that you have the feeling of being alone, with the beautiful beach right there. The house is clean, has everything you need , internet, sound system full kitchen and is very comfortableThe rental of the car is a must if you want to visit the island or get fresh fish from the fisherman in Governor's Harbour ! or go to Tippy's a fantastic restaurant on the beach just 3 min away.
The owners where incredibly nice as was the caretaker.
I will be going back to Eleuthera and to Desert Rose !
Great vacation cottage and awesome beach with a calm, chrystal clear water.
Excellent location with totally private beach and plenty of everything you may need in and around.
The cottage had all the necessary amenities and was just perfect for accomodating a couple.
You should also take a day trip to Harbor Island....beautiful resorts and beaches as well.
We would highly recommend this property for those looking to have a very private and secluded vacation in a gorgeous setting and we hope to come here again very soon.
Special tanks to Barbara, the owner, and David at Eleuthera.

We had a wonderful stay at Desert Rose on Eleuthera. The property was beautiful, well supplied and nicely maintained. The private beach was breathtaking. The tiki hut on the beach was a wonderful way to enjoy the beach without getting too much sun, and the constant surf was so relaxing. We enjoyed exploring the island beaches, the Glass Window Bridge, and the two local beach restaurants, The Beach House and Tippy's.
The people of Governor's Harbor were welcoming and inviting. We enjoyed Da Perk Café very much!
We would love to come back some day!
My wife and I recently completed our second stay at Desert Rose and we can't wait to return! We have spent a week on Eleuthera three years running and have driven from one end of the island to the other - but Desert Rose is our favorite spot. When the Atlantic is calm (and it was 3 of the 7 days we were there), the snorkeling right off the beach is great. When the Atlantic is not so calm, we are a short drive from Ten Bay on the Caribbean side. Desert Rose is close to Governor's Harbor and Palmetto Point, so we can get anything we need, but isolated enough that we have seen only 10 other people on the beach in two weeks total time.
I hesitate to give such a good review, only because I don't want too many other people to start going to "our" beach!
My wife and I just completed our third trip to Eleuthera and our second time at Desert Rose and we can't wait to return. The beach in front of the cottage is beautiful, and in two week long visits, we have seen a total of 10 other people. When the Atlantic is calm (it was calm 3 of 7 days we were there this trip), the snorkeling right off the beach is great. When the Atlantic is too rough for snorkeling, we are just a short drive from Ten Bay on the Caribbean side.
I hesitate to give a 5-star review only because I don't want others to start staying at "our cottage" and on "our beach"!
I can't say enough good things about Desert Rose and the Owner, Barbara. I was impressed not only by the beautiful locations but also by Barbara's detailed and prompt responses to my questions during the booking process. Her assistance in answering all of my questions was a big reason why I chose Desert Rose. Yes, the location was a little remote and there were not many restaurants nearby to chose from but that was also the charm of the place. We had the beach to ourselves and what a beach it was! Absolutely beautiful! We hope that we get a chance to return. If you are looking to be waited on in a fancy hotel then this is not the place for you but if you want stunning views of the beach and ocean and can be a little self sufficent then you can't go wrong with Dessert Rose. One of the best vacations spots I've ever visited. Thanks Barbara!
We were very fortunate to have selected Desert Rose for our two-week vacation on Eleuthera. All arrangements and communications with Barbara, the owner, went smoothly. We also rented the owner's SUV which was very convenient. Our contact on the island, Mr. Rolle, was very nice; he also provided prompt transport to and from the airport. The well-appointed cottage, located on one of the most beautiful beaches, had everything we needed for the PERFECT vacation. My husband loved snorkeling around the nearby reefs. We walked the beach for miles every day seeing only a few friendly people during our stay. The constant breezes and sound of the ocean waves was priceless. Thank you, Barbara, for sharing your home with us.
Desert Rose is a great vacation home. We enjoyed a superb week in paradise. We had a private beach all to ourselves (there is the potential for neighbors, but none were present during our week). We played in the sand, lounged in the sun, and explored the northern half of Eleuthera with ease and comfort.
Desert Rose is well stocked with gear and necessities. It also has various supplies to make life convenient. We used the beach chairs, snorkel gear, beach blankets, sand toys, pack-and-play, and water dispensers.
The master BR is good size. The children's bedroom is small, but has two bunks. The house is not baby proof, but it's easy to keep an eye on your child in the open atmosphere of Desert Rose.
The selection of books and DVDs is extensive. It made breakfast and dinner with a toddler much easier.
Food on the island will be twice as expensive as food in the USA. Aside from the major resorts, no one accepts credit cards, so bring plenty of cash. Rent Barbara's Nissan Pathfinder, as it is in good shape and very convenient.
Try out Sky Beach Club, Harbour Island, Valentine's, The Cove at Eleuthera, and the Eleuthera Supply store in Governor's Harbor. Haynes Library has internet for a $5 donation. The free medical clinic in Lower Bouge is well supplied and has modern medical practitioners, if you need health care.
Barbara is very well organized and will try to make your trip wonderful. She is a great owner/operator.
Desert Rose is great for couples and families alike. If you want peace and quiet and convenience, at a good price, you will be happy to stay at Desert Rose.
We just returned from a month long stay in the Desert Rose.
We had been to Eleuthera before but this was the first time we had been back in 8 years
Barbara, the owner, was a joy to work with. She was responsive, helpful and the entire rental transaction was handled over the internet...hassle free.
Once there, we met David, the caretaker, who took care of any questions we had and checked in several times with us over the month to see that everything was going ok.
The Desert Rose is located midway between the northern and southern tips of the island, so it is a good base from which to visit beaches and points of interest in both directions.
Desert Rose is located on a small bluff overlooking the ocean. It is clean, well furnished and maintained while being equipped with all the conveniences one could need.
You go to sleep and wake up each day to the sounds of the ocean. Although air conditioned, we kept our windows open the entire time and were never uncomfortable. Virtually every morning we had coffee on the deck, watching the sun rise and enjoying a spectacular view of the ocean, a few steps away.
Sometimes we 'd go into Governors Harbor, travel the island a bit or just decide to grab some rays, read a book and stay right there.
We liked it so much there that, before we left , we scheduled another 2 week stay in 2015.
Some say, Eleuthera, its not for everyone. Obviously they have never been to the Desert Rose.
We loved it there.
Pat and Dave St John
We once again stayed at the Desert Rose for a magnificant week of beautiful views, warm water and perfect snorkeling! Seclusion was ours as we saw literally only one (1) other couple on "our beach" the entire week! We were pleased at the improvements Barbara has made to the home (new stairs to the beach, new bed, more movies, local phone, etc) and the cleanliness of the house - all since our last stay in 2011. We used Barbara's available car to travel the island seeing Ben Bay (pristine little cove on the north end), Harbor Island, the "Blue Hole" and Lighthouse Beach - all beautiful, but truely decided that Desert Rose has the best beach and nicest view on the island! We had a large storm pass through one night and lost power (to about 1/3 of the island). With ease, we were gottn hold of by the great caretaker (Mr. Rolle) and others of Barbara's friends to ensure we were ok and knew how to get power to the house if island power didn;t come back quickly. it was comforting and great to know we were safe and well taken care of in any circumstance. House was well equipped, clean and lacking for nothing! Best snorkeling on the island (and we tried a number of places) is directly in front of the house! With sand still between our toes . . . we WILL be back to this little bit of paradise. Thanks for sharing your home with us - again!
This place is amazing! It looked *exactly* like the pictures depict. Absolutely beautiful. My boyfriend and I stayed here for about 4 nights. We roamed the beach every day and never even saw another person. The house was clean and had a very functional and well stocked kitchen. We rented a car from the owner which was very useful. They arranged airport pick up and drop off. At such a great price, this rental was everything we had hoped it would be and more. You won't be disappointed. :-)
The property was everything I thought it would be and more. The pictures don't do it justice, because its absolutely beautiful. The deck over looks the private beach, with turquoise water and white/ pink sand. The house it self is cozy and well furnished, it feels like home even though your on a private island. There are hammocks among the palm trees and lounge chairs on the deck for relaxing. You can prepare a meal.on the grill outside or cook in the fully stocked kitchen. The house is fully stocked with towels, sunscreen, soap, blankets and pillows, beach chairs, snorkel gear and anything else you could want on a beach vacation. I would recommend this property to anyone. Barbara the owner is very professional and helpful, as well as her staff, the maid, caretaker and gardener were always around or a phone call away if we needed anything. Very romantic, private, and relaxing. Da perk Café down the hill was a great place for drinks, and sandwich's also good breakfast. The locals are very friendly, if you get lost or want to find some good food, just ask them! You will not be disappointed!! Just remember bug spray.
Thanks again Barbara!!
My wife and I were looking for a place to get away from it all and the Desert Rose provided more than we expected. The house was very comfortable. Fully stocked with everything you need to relax and unwind. The beach was perfect for us. We were there for 5 days and saw only 3 people on the 1/2 + mile stretch of beach. The water was warm and clear, almost like being in a pool, only way better. Barbara was fantastic to work with and Kelly was outstanding with her assistance at before and during our stay. We hated to leave and stalled until the very last minute almost missing our flight back to reality. If we can we will be back. Couldn't have been better.
Website pictures are usually better than reality, but in this case, pictures don't do Desert Rose justice at all. We have traveled quite a bit and have seen some spectacular places, but our stay on Eluethra at Desert Rose was beyond our greatest expectations. Desert Rose truly is private with a stretch of the most beautiful beach you could ever want right out your front door. Like many other guests, we rarely saw anyone on the beach and felt like we owned the whole place. No neighbors homes can be seen from Desert Rose and while secluded and private, we felt quite safe. The island is phenomenal l if you like rest and quiet, gorgeous beaches, friendly people, and that get away from it all feeling. It is not for you if you like nightlife, cozying up to the beach bar and sharing the beach with hundreds of other people. The house itself was perfect for us. It is well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a beach vacation. The caretaker was in touch with us but not at all intrusive and we lacked absolutely nothing. Definitely need to rent a vehicle and suggest a 4 wheel drive if you want to get to most beaches. Even the road to the house is a bit rough so the higher clearance afforded by a 4 wheel drive is worth it. We knew food would be expensive and perhaps not much variety available and that was the case. A half gallon of milk was $8! In November there was not much fresh produce available but we certainly made do. We brought dry goods with us for breakfasts and lunches and that helped with the expense. But don't miss hitting the local restaurants for some fresh fish and cracked conch! We can't say enough about this place and certainly plan on a return visit.
Eleuthera is a primitive, beautiful and very simple island. No casinos, shopping plazas or resorts, and in my opinion has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Desert Rose sits on a very beautiful Atlantic- side ocean beach; sometimes wavy and often calm. The snorkeling was great and our stay was enjoyable. The property was well maintained, charming and quite comfortable; located outside of "town", down a semi private road, I would recommend a SUV. For those individuals that visit Eleuthera often and want some privacy but still get around relatively easily, this is a good place to stay. We enjoyed our evening property guest - a grey and black hooded egret or cormorant. Nice property. Detroit MI.
My wife and I stayed for one week. The property exceeded expectations: the view of the beach and the sound of the crashing waves was very soothing. We visited several other beaches and did not find a better one than the one at the bottom of the steps. The cottage itself exuded a relaxed vacation feel that we took full advantage of. The location was convenient to food and exploring the island but the property is secluded. Highly recommended.
20 minutes from Governor's Harbour Airport is a little slice of heaven called Desert Rose. Turning into the property the well maintained grounds welcome you. Then perched up on the hill sits the cottage, two decks, pink beach, green blue waters, we have arrived to Paradise on Eleuthera. The cottage is spacious and airy, the master bedroom is large with a comfortable bed, tons of bedding and towels, the kitchen has all the appliances and equipment you need, from a dishwasher, washing machine/dryer to a microwave and everything in between. All is pristine and comfortable. A cell phone was provided, direct tv, surround sound and tons of movies for at home evening entertainment, but the beach was the main attraction. The sand soft, the water so clear, quiet, peaceful, truly amazing an experience to be lived. The caretaker Ericka was sweet and helpful and Barbara responded to an inquiry right away when emailed. A few notes about the island: A rental car is a must, Barbara's directions to the house were spot on (do not leave them home), driving on the left hand side of the road is always a challenge on the first day and the many pot holes made it even more interesting. We stayed 6 nights and 7 days, the kitchen came in handy as we cooked dinners a few nights. We opted to discover the restaurants mainly for lunch. We traveled the island from tip to tip and loved the small road side restaurants, some of the more well known like "Tippy" are pricey. The restaurants that are a must in our opinion: "Laughing Lizard" , "Daddy Joe", "Buccaneer" also 3JS Takeaway has a fabulous Jerk Pit. Make sure you stock up at the local grocery store and stop by the local bakery (yummy breads) and the liquor store (priced reasonably). My boyfriend and I were celebrating a special birthday and there could not have been a better place then Desert Rose. We will visit again.
When first arriving onto the property we both simultaneously said, "OH WOW!". We were pleasantly surprised that the property was even better than described on the website. The house is meticulously maintained and the 360-degree views were incredible. We had a very restful, peaceful vacation. We came just as Hurricane Joaquin was leaving, but were still greeted with smiles and hospitality. The property had everything we could have asked for and more. Stores, restaurants are close by, but we had every privacy we wanted. I found it hard to sleep or read because the scenery was so stunning! We consider us fortunate to have found such a gem and that the owners have opened their home to us all. Thank you!
Our family spent a week at this property and could not have enjoyed it more! Mr. Mingo was very kind in meeting us after our flight from Nassau was delayed, even though it meant that we didn't arrive until later in the evening. The home was very charming - kitchen was well furnished and the windows allowed for lots of breeze during the day when we didn't want to turn on the A/C. The real treat of this home though was the outdoor space - two decks (one wraparound off the main living area including a covered picnic table/grill area, plus one down over the beach with nice chaise lounges) plus a palapa on our own stretch of gorgeous beach! We didn't see another soul on our beach until our very last day, which was surprising given the gorgeous pink sand and calm Atlantic waters. The location was perfect with easy access into Gov Harbour and restaurants, etc there. We were even able to buy lobster from a local fisherman to cook at home one evening. The setting is very private and grounds and home were well maintained (Erica, the housekeeper, was lovely). We'll be back!
Desert Rose was unbelievable! Barbara (owner) was very prompt in answering our email questions, and the property manager, Marsha, was delightful. She even met us with fresh cut flowers!
The beach in front of the property is so beautiful, and we did not see one other person the entire time we were there! The water was a l ittle rough and cold for us to snorkel (a harider soul would probably ahve no problem) but we enjoyed Ten Bay beach on the Caribbean side - about 15 minutes away - and spent a lot of time there.
We went north one day to Harbour Island, and though it was nice, we couldn't wait to get away from the tourist crowds and back to Desert Rose! Also one day we went south to Lighthouse Beach - not an easy feat, but well worth it. Stunningly beautiful!
If you want something that is off the beaten path, but has everything you need, then this property is for you! It's about 10 minutets from the town of Governor's Harbour. We enjoyed the Levy Preserve and ate twice at Buccaneers. Tippy's was OK but pricey for what you got.
Thanks again Barbara and Marsha for making us feel so welcome!
This was an amazing place to stay! It was peaceful and beautiful. The Home was away from the main road and was very private as was the beach which was amazing! I grew up on a beach that is often referred to being one of the top beaches in the U.S. and I’ve also traveled quite a lot – the sand and water at this location on this island is the best by far. If you are looking to get away for a week of downtime this is the place. The ownership and their host were excellent. You can be as active or relaxed as you wish... kayaking to a great bar / restaurant, snorkeling the many patch reefs, swimming in the pool-like water, etc. The house was perfect. Enough space, we were able to cook and grill when we wished and all the comforts of home. There is a tranquility and positive energy here that allows one to recharge. Thank you to our hosts for an amazing week!
As soon as we drove up and were met by Marsha, we knew we made the right choice. The location, the house, the ocean view and the reefs for diving just off the beach - were all better then expected. Desert Rose is a very comfortable home. Our favorite spot, besides the water, is the deck overlooking the beach. It also made the perfect place for stargazing at night, the sky is so clear we lost count of shooting stars and moving satellites. For the 2 weeks we stayed at Desert Rose, every day was awesome. Thanks Barbara for letting us stay at Desert Rose.
What a gem. I am conflicted giving away such a special place as I want it all to myself, but Barbara deserves the review for keeping such a lovely hideaway. It’s a bumpy rural sand road (shared by neighboring houses) to the house. The house is very well maintained with all the modern amenities (dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, gas barbecue, new A/C units, etc). Kitchen was well stocked with cookware, but bring your own spices/condiments are none were present. Nice open kitchen/main room with a master bedroom (king bed) and a kids room (bunkbeds). You are right on the ocean with a private set of steps down to the waves. The beach is gorgeous – it’s the Atlantic so it can be rough. We only saw a couple of other people the whole time were there.
Its about 15-20min drive to Governors Harbor. We ate most of our meals at the place as we love to cook. We ate a Tippy’s one night (it’s a 5 min drive) and it was good but very expensive. Food is very expensive in general on this island. Meat is a premium in cost. Vegetables were scarce, but it was off season.
We rented a small SUV and were very glad to have it. Main road is pretty good (some tire eating potholes) but side roads require more clearance. Back home, I 4x4 and some of these roads required my driving skills. We saw sedans driven down and around the large potholed side roads, but I wouldn’t take my sedan down those roads. And the trees grow in so it will scratch up you vehicle – ours was already broken in (1,084,000km) and well scratched, which was prefect for us.
There is a guest register in the house filled with places to visit and get groceries, so I won’t go into those details. Each day we visited a new, mostly deserted beach – each one gets top marks for being one of the best beach I have ever been on. And I have been on a lots of beautiful beaches!
If you prefer cruise ships and crowds, and need people around to feel safe, then don’t go here. On the issue of safety, we felt very safe here. The locals rely of our dollar to keep them living there so they like tourists not like some places in Mexico where you can free uneasy about trusting locals. There is virtually no crime on this island.
For the adventuresome types, don’t go here when I want to as I am going back. Barbara was wonderful to deal with. This vacation was a 12+ out of 10
My husband and I decided to visit Eleuthera and so happy we picked Desert Rose for our stay because it was just perfect for the two of us. Right on the Atlantic and the beach is simply gorgeous and we rarely saw anyone on it. The water is so clear and I didn't get the least bit nervous about swimming which I can when swimming in an ocean with all its creatures and rip tides, etc.. I think it's because I don't know much about oceans, but anyway just the best.
Barbara, the owner, was great about sending us all sorts of information and Marsha, the manager of Desert Rose was also great. Thank you! I could go on, but the other reviews have pretty much summed up the experience. We will be back.
I would love to say that this house was horrible so that it's always available for rental. But I can't. It was perfect. Very central location to everything. A few restaurants and grocery shopping is available in near by Governor's Harbor. Truly amazing basically private beach. It was a rare day that we'd see anyone else at the beach. One lesson learned was that if the Atlantic side is rough, the nearby Carribean side will probably be calm. If heading to the other side of the island, I'd highly recommend Ten Bay beach. If you're looking for a beautiful beach house that's a little off the beaten path.... But not too far off of it... Dessert Rose is the perfect rental. The owner, Barbara, is amazing. Extremely responsive with any questions and does everything she can to ensure you a stay in paradise. Can't wait to be back.
Wow - what can I say! This was the most wonderful, relaxing vacation ever! Upon arrival, Miss Marsha greeted us and took us through the house, explaining every little ting. The cottage was tidy and clean, and it was perfect timing for an evening rum punch on the deck overlooking the crystal clear and stunning Atlantic. There was a nice breeze throughout our stay which was very welcome - we did not need the A/C at all, but then again, we are "fresh-air" types. We ventured out for two days of our 8 night stay - once North to Harbor Island & Spanish Wells, and another day south, to go shelling, beaching and have a delicious home-cooked Bahamian lunch by Miss Rose at Northside Inn at Rock Sound. (Call ahead - a real treat!) We brought back fish from the local fishermen in Spanish Wells and cooked it on the gas grill under a shady deck at Desert Rose for the next two nights - heavenly! The kitchen was very well stocked, with everything one needs - being the homebodies we are, we stayed in every night and cooked our meals in, enjoying the deck, balcony, hammock and - during the day - lunch under the thatched roof palapa on the beach - taking shelter from the sun, but taking many dips in the perfect temperature of the Atlantic and floating around on rafts......after our two trips North & South, we both agreed that Desert Rose was in the BEST location with the BEST beach and stayed put the remainder of our week....we had the beach entirely to ourselves during our stay - it doesn't get any better. And Barbara engages the services of a gardener twice weekly who keeps the grounds - and most importantly the beach - in pristine condition. As you stroll down the miles long beach, you will see that most do not do that, so "your" patch really is Paradise! It was great to see my husband totally chill out after all the stress of work - a rare and much-needed sight!! Barbara was great at offering suggestions and answering any questions via email. My picky husband, when asked to rate it on a scale of 1 - 10 - said "12"......'nuff said! Thank you so much, Barbara and Marsha for an idyllic stay!
We loved Desert Rose. Better than expected. The house, the grounds, the location, the view, the serenity - all perfect. We lacked nothing. Marsha was fantastic. Thank for providing a little piece of paradise for us to enjoy, and for making it all work out smoothly.
This is our 2nd time staying here and though there are a lot of options throughout the Bahamas, we won't waste our time surfing thru them all because we already found our paradise - and we've traveled to remote scenic paces all over. Right on the beach. What an amazing property. The home is way off of the main road, and in a very secluded part of the beach. The owner is great to work with and their caretaker is also on point.
If you want to get away from it all and immerse yourself in seclusion, then this is the place you will call Utopia. My wife and I absolutely loved our stay and couldn't be happier about our location. The water is so clear and the beach is to die for. We enjoyed the fish fry on Friday in Governors Harbor and the food at Tippy's was excellent, and this was all within just a few miles of our bungalow. Barbra worked with us and made sure we were taken care of even with the changes we threw at her last minute. The Greater Marsha, is absolutely the most beautiful person you will meet, she is friendly, informative and makes sure you are set up before she leaves you to your dream vacation. I would not hesitate for an instant to recommend Desert Rose.
We stayed at Desert Rose for a week at the end of July 2017. Words cannot describe how much we enjoyed our stay and how much we regretted we didn't book it longer. We will next time.
The house is kept beautifully, very clean and with many extra towels and linens. It has a fully stocked kitchen, a HUGE and varied DVD library, beach accessories, a safe, and anything one would need for a home away from home. I have to say the pictures on this website DO NOT do it justice - it is MUCH better in real life. I have to also mention that while the bed picture here is a queen, the bedroom is now updated with a very comfortable king size bed. Barbara was extremely fast in responding to us throughout the booking process and we had the pleasure of meeting her and her lovely husband during our stay as well. The beach is very secluded with very few people walking by, if any at all. We enjoyed this property very much and would like to return asap. Thank you Barbara and Luciano for a wonderful stay! A la prossima!
This place is so absolutely amazing!! As soon as we stepped on the porch we were blown away, the pictures don't do this view justice, it is stunning to see in person. The views from inside the home are likely as wonderful. The home is equipped with everything you need plus more. It is a very comfortable, cozy and private home. I love the artwork displayed, it's beautiful. Ooooh and the beach, wow just wow. It feels like your very own private beach. We rarely saw people that were just passing by. It was so relaxing to be only steps away from a spectacular beach. We had many days just lounging on the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves to the fullest on our visit. We can't thank the owners enough for providing such a fabulous spot. We will most certainly be back to Desert Rose again!! Until then cheers!!!
My husband and I rented this house for our honeymoon, and it was exactly what I was looking for! The house and property were so beautiful, even better than the pictures show! I will definitely go back someday. The caretaker was very nice and helpful, even gave us a tour of the island (so many cool sights to see). I Highly recommend this place to anyone in search of a quiet, relaxing getaway with amazing views!!
My wife and I had a great time at the Desert Rose. Property was beautiful and Barbara was very accommodating. The caretaker - Frankie Mayne was awesome! The views day and night were fabulous. You will need a car as the town of Governors Harbor is about 20 minutes away and Tippys restaurant is 35 minutes walk and 10 minute drive. Must do the Friday night fish fry, conch fritters at Buccaneers, tour of Harbour Island, see glass bridge, go to farmer girl for fresh vegetables/cheese and hummus - have cocktails w locals in JC as well as little local bar w awesome view near glass bridge. Food is expensive so plan accordingly. Also go to sky beach for pool day and cocktails. In case Atlantic is rough Caribbean side is awesome and so is Ten Bay and French Leave beaches. Bring bug spray and cash! All in all great house and wonderful island for getting away!
My wife and I had a wonderful time at Desert Roses. More than I had imagined, it was a very well laid out beach house just steps away from a beautiful and nearly deserted beach. Aside from the owner, who just dropped by to say hello and make sure we made it to the property, we only saw one other person on the beach in six days. That’s exactly what we were looking for. The sand is very soft and pink tinged. It is a perfect contrast to the variety of blues of the ocean. The house itself has numerous decks, a sturdy staircase leading to a palapa covered deck on the beach. In addition to the washer and dryer, there is an exterior shower and clothesline for cleanup and drying of beach clothes. The inside is comfortably furnished with a fully equipped kitchen. In addition, there is a satellite television with US channels. I am very happy we found Desert Roses.
This is a terrific house. So private and quiet, which is exactly what we wanted. Well laid out for a couple (or a couple with small children), well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen, bathroom (plenty of bath and beach towels) and the beach. Multiple levels of balconies offer stunning views of the Atlantic, and the covered platform on the beach is so convenient to store your stuff or get out of the sun. The place is better than advertised. Also has a great DVD collection for those rare rainy days.
The beach is absolutely gorgeous and we only saw four other people, total, for the ten days we were there -- and they were just passers-by. No one was renting the other house on the property, so I don't know what it would be like if that were the case. That property's covered platform is pretty close to this one. There are a lot of beautiful beaches on Eleuthera, and we visited a few, but we decided that none compared to this one. Plus, with the coral reef right there, you can snorkel right off the beach -- and have the convenience of running up to the house if you need food, beverages, or use the bathroom.
We took a lot of walks on the beach in both directions. There are a few rocks you have to scramble over, but otherwise you can walk for miles. Tippy's (fun restaurant) is about a mile walk up the beach.
The multiple balcony levels are also great. One night we were treated to the Geminid meteor shower, which was spectacular. We went down to the mid-deck balcony and laid down on the chaise lounges for about an hour watching the light show.
The owner is very easy to work with and very accommodating. She even bought us chair umbrellas because she didn't know if there was a beach umbrella at the place (in case we ventured to other beaches). The caretaker was also extremely helpful and responsive. As others have said, the power did go out often, but never for too long. Mostly it went out during the day when we were on the beach anyway, so it didn't really matter. There was only one time at night when it went out, and we couldn't find matches anywhere to light the candles, and some of the flashlights did not have working batteries. But there is an emergency interior light, so we weren't completely in the dark -- and it only lasted about ten minutes.
We can't wait to get back to Desert Rose. We had a truly relaxing, carefree vacation. If you really want to get away from it all, this is the place!
We stayed January 14-21, 2018. The house itself has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The kitchen is well equipped, shower has a good flow and hot water, and there is wifi and satellite TV and DVDs. The house also has a cooler and beach chairs for use, which are most welcome. The house has multiple decks and a tiki hut, a grill, and washer/dryer. Beautiful views at your doorstep and the sound of waves crashing can be heard inside. We didn't have great weather, but we made the best of it. Barbara the owner made sure we were settled before coming to the island and stayed in contact for any questions. Frankie the property manager greeted us, answered our calls for questions promptly, and wished us safe travels home. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay at Desert Rose Cottage on Eleuthera. Barbara was easy to communicate with and efficient; she was quick to answer our emails and provided us with directions to the cottage and information on renting a car. The cottage was beautiful, and the views were outstanding. It had everything we needed. We loved being right on the beach and close to the town of Governor's Harbor. We walked down the beach to the Montecello Resort for lunch and up the beach to Tippys for cocktails. We also ate two delicious dinners at Tippy's and enjoyed the live music on Saturday night. We ate two fancy dinners at the 1648 Bar and Grille on the French Leave Resort, which were excellent. We spent a couple of days exploring the island, and highly recommend Ten Bay Beach. We also traveled an hour to Harbor Island, which also had a beautiful beach. We hope to return in the future.
Wow!!!! We arrived at this location and we thought we had reached heaven!!!! Absolute paradise. So private, we only saw 3 other people on the beach in 6 days. Pristine sandy beach for miles, amazing star gazing at night. We fell in love with Desert Rose !! Barbara was so easy to communicate with. Made our experience that much nicer. We will definitely be back one day.
Our stay at the Desert Rose was amazing. The view & the house were breathtaking. Barbara was great and easy to deal with. Definitely will stay at the Desert Rose again. We recommend this property and owner.
Dessert Rose is a hidden gem. We spent most of our week on Eleuthera exploring different beaches and fishing off the rocks and flats. Tippy's restaurant is a short drive up the road and great for live music on Saturday and Wednesday nights. We will be back....
Desert Rose is a comfy, cozy, clean cottage set up perfectly for a couple. It is equipped with everything you need for the beach: cooler, nice beach chairs, umbrella (which we really appreciated because a lot of beaches do not have any shade), washer and dryer, wash line for hanging wet clothes, outdoor shower for cleaning up beach gear. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking anything.
The view of the ocean from the outside decks and inside as well is just spectacular! The beach tiki hut provides welcome shade along with a place to store your stuff while swimming, walking or kayaking. You can hear the waves at night which makes for great sleeping. The beach really is one of the best on the island and it was difficult to leave to explore other areas.
Tippys, Buccaneer Club, Bacchus Find Foods and Governor's Harbor are just a short drive away.
We have rented many VRBO's and this was one of our favorites!
We spent 6 nights at Garden of Light end of April through early May. We flew into North Eleuthera airport and were picked up by the property's caretaker Mr. Gardiner and his son. We rented an SUV through Mr. Gardiner as well which was very easy. The property is secluded on the Atlantic side; there are two houses on the property although there are enough palm trees, foliage, and distance to where there house is very private. The beach was beautiful and the house was well equipped with beach chairs, snorkel gear, grill and all the kitchen amenities needed to cook well at home. There was AC in the house which worked well although it was rarely needed as it was easy to get a breeze through the house. Wifi was very reliable in the house. We were able to pick up fresh fish in Governor's Harbor (sold next to the water across the street from Eleuthera Supply) to grill at home (catch is variable, had grouper and crab available). Groceries at Burrows, veggies/fresh bread/cinnamon rolls at Island Farm Eleuthera (just south of South Palmetto Point). Island Farm also sells a nice map of the island (4 separate maps for different areas) which was nice to have. It was quite windy on the Atlantic side for most of our trip (which meant essentially no noseeums). Wouldn't hesitate to come back!
We stayed at Monticello-Desert Rose over our April school vacation. We recommend this rental to any family who is looking for a pristine beach and privacy. We have two boys age 10 and 8 who spent countless hours playing in the ocean which is literally right outside the house. Even on windy days, the surf was safe and the children could play.
The caretaker Andre was great as well. He is a wealth of knowledge so take advantage of it. We recommend renting his car if available.
We plan on returning annually to experience the great food, culture and beaches that Eleuthera has to offer.
Seamless process from start to finish, Property manager was on point and did everything we needed without hesitation. If you want to unplug, relax and enjoy wonderful beaches, this is the place. I would recommend this to any friend or relatives.
My husband and I absolutely loved every minute of our stay at Monticello. The views and the wonderful places to sit and reflect and enjoy the long walks on the beach still deeply move our beings! What a respite! We loved the covered deck that sits on a knoll overlooking the house and grounds and the ocean. What a spectacular spot to unwind with a glass of wine, apples and cheese. The cool breezes were refreshing! The curly tail lizards were fun to watch as we shared little bits of apple. The house itself was perfect for the two of us. The bed was so comfortable so we rested well in the cool of the a/c. All the appliances and facilities worked perfectly. The grocery stores had what we were wanting and we also found a good selection of wines. We rented a car from Central Auto and fell in love with the owners...Margaret Nixon and her husband. She shared her book of poetry with us and invited us to church in Governor’s Harbor. It was a memorable service! The message was just what we needed to hear. We drove to Ten Bay beach and snorkeled there to be delighted to find a bed of live sand dollars. We also drove north to see the Glass Bridge. The waters on the Carribean side were an incredible shade of turquoise. The beach at Monticello never ceased to amaze our eyes with the beautiful pink sand perfect for walking and the ever changing turquoise waters of the Atlantic. We are still in awe of it all. Eleuthera is a non-commercialized island but has all your heart can hold and more...a perfect hideaway for relaxing and enjoying the wonderful glory of God’s creation.
House, beaches as described in advert. House secluded and off the beaten track, just what we wanted. You will need a car to get around the island.Kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Bed comfy and loved sitting out the back of the house for breakfast each morning. Plenty of masks & flippers for snorkelling etc.
Would recommend a stay here but do remember to bring plenty of bug spray, we had quite a few bites but easily remedied.
My wife and I spent a blissful 4th of July weekend here. We saw just a few people a day on the secluded miles-long beach; I didn't think that kind of privacy was available any more in the Caribbean. The thatched hut on the beach in the photos was perfect for breakfast and for an afternoon nap. The house is very comfortable even on hot afternoons, and at night we were soothed to sleep with the sound of waves gently lapping the sandy beach. And although it did get warm in the afternoon, it was a lot cooler than Atlanta in the summer time. The house accommodates 5, with a spacious master suite and comfy king-sized bed and its own air-conditioning unit and ceiling fan. The guest bedroom has two bunk beds and there is a pull out bed in the large living room. The kitchen is very well appointed with modern appliances. There is one large bathroom with a roomy shower. There are several good restaurants within a few minutes drive and groceries and gas within 5 minutes. Highly recommended.
This was the most amazing Vacation I / WE have ever had. It is really like paradise. The Desert Rose Place we stayed at had everything you need as if you were at home and much more. Inside the Desert Rose Cottage everything you need to cook with, Entertainment center with surround sound, all Bathroom and Bedroom necessities , great view of the Atlantic and Beach. Amazing Decks all around the Cottage with a really well maintained yard all around the cottage. Great beautiful Beach and Blue ocean water with Decks to show all the angle of beautiful views for your eyes content. Here me out...... if you want a Great place to Vacation..... This is the spot !!!!!!. Me and my Lady had the Great Opportunity to meet Miss Barbara Mozzato and she is a amazing Lady that we had the pleasure to chat with. Thank you Miss Barbara for a Great Place to relax and enjoy.
PS. I could have wrote much more about many other great things about the Desert Rose, But Believe me you have just got to go see and experience it yourself. You WILL NOT regret it !!!!!!
We visited for our wedding anniversary and could not be happier. We will be back!
We had a wonderful week enjoying this house while celebrating our 25th anniversary.
The beach was amazing. Reef just off shore and the sand was beautiful.
The house had everything we needed. Grocery stores are close. Restaurants are close. The AC was good. There's a covered area out back with a big table and grill. Beach chairs, snorkel gear.....you need to bring a few clothes, sunscreen, deet and food. This was our fifth trip to Eleuthera and we have never seen a better stocked house.
Thank you so much for all the extras you provide for your guests!
We had a very memorable week and plan to return.
This would be a great house to bring our grandkids to at some point.
My husband and I had a fabulous 10 days exploring the beautiful island of Eleuthera and enjoying this very comfortable house. The house had everything we needed, including wifi and cable TV, grocery stores and restaurants were very close (Sunset & 1648 our favorites), although a couple were closed for renovations. The beach was beautiful and the sand was powdery soft. The house is very secluded on the beach and we only saw two other people on the beach while we were there and they were the owners of the house next door. We had a few days where the Atlantic was a bit rough which caused seaweed to wash up on shore making swimming almost impossible. On those few days when swimming was rather difficult, we explored other beaches on the island and, other than our beach at the house, our other favorite was Ten Bay Beach. There were beach chairs, snorkel gear, plenty of towels and everything you need to cook meals during your stay. The house was fully stocked. Just bring a few clothes, sunscreen and some bug spray with deet for the no see ums (only bothered us two nights because there was always a nice breeze). We loved having our coffee on the deck overlooking the beach and spent the days under the thatched hut on the beach listening to music or enjoying a good book. We rented a nice car from the property manager who works for Barbara and all went well. Working with Barbara made our vacation stress free and we had a very memorable week and plan to return at some point in the future.
This was our third time at Desert Rose and we have decided it is our favorite house we've stayed at in our 5 years of visiting Eleuthera. Desert Rose is perfectly situated in a private setting on a glorious beach. Our favorite aspect is all of the outdoor space - from the wrap around deck to the patio with lounge chairs a little lower down the bank and then finally the beautiful beach where we relax under a palm leaf palabra. The house itself is simple with ample space for a couple or family with small children as second bedroom as bunk beds. The kitchen is well stocked for meal prep should you choose and the living area/tv room is quite spacious and comfortable. The location near Governor's Harbor is super convenient to shopping and restaurants as well as the organic farm in the other direction in Palmetto. We noticed more people (10-12/day) on the beach this time which was a disappointment. We've had stays when we saw not a soul on the beach and felt like we owned the island! The secret of Eleuthera must be getting out. There is a second home on this property but well out of the way of Desert Rose so if people are staying there at the same time, you still feel quite secluded and private.
We very much look forward to our return visit next year! Thank you Barbara!
